Those early 80s Gourmet magazines were like no other; the quality of the writing and the degree of erudition was incredible... although the recipes themselves were often a little impractical!
As an impoverished uni student I would sometimes buy myself a current Gourmet magazine as a ridiculous luxury (the US/AU exchange rate was against me) - but most of the time I simply pored over secondhand copies picked up for 50c or a dollar.
I still have some of them; they speak to an era very different from the current one.
I couldn’t answer the poll (although I love polls) as my fav cheese wasn’t listed (velveeta…really?😅). While I love all kinds of cheese, I’d have to say Cambozola tops the list.
I really enjoy a good Niçoise salad, too-that’s always a treat😋
Very enjoyable reading.

Yeah, that was a really different time. Glad we both had a chance to have fun with it!
Great one today, Tom!

Cambozola - I'll have to look that one up! Niçoise is indeed a go to when the garden is strong!
My favorite brand?
Cambozola Black Label. On a small rice cracker (Trader Joe’s-the tastiest) with a little dab of Mary’s jam (any flavor) on top.
Yum!Yum!
